Locals finish well at Women’s State Amateur


Jul. 24—The Indiana Women’s Amateur concluded on Wednesday after three rounds of play at Woodland Trails in Yorktown.

Four local players competed in the event, which featured 60 of the top amateur players in the state.

The best finish came from Taylor Snively, who placed 18th with a three-round total of 221 (71-77-73).

The rising freshman at Zionsville, Snively had three birdies, two bogeys and 13 pars in the opening round of the tournament.

In round 2, she came back with two birdies, five bogeys, a double an 10 pars. In the final round she had four birdies, five bogeys and nine pars.

At 14, she was the youngest finish in the top-20 by two years.

Zionsville’s Becky Williams, a University graduate, was tied for 19th with a three-round total of 224 (75-77-72).

In the opening round, Williams had a birdie, two bogeys, a double and 14 pars. In the second round, she had a birdie, six bogeys and 11 pars. In the third round she had three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars.

Zionsville grad Lauren Kaltenmark placed tied for 25th with a three-round total of 227 (75-77-75).

In the first round, she three birdies, four bogeys, a double and 10 pars. In round two she had five birdies, four bogeys, three doubles and six pars and in round 3 she had one birdie, two bogeys, a double and 14 pars.

Zionsville grad Maddie Diedrich finished tied for 43rd with a 236 (77-77-82).

She had three birdies, eight bogeys and seven pars in the opening round. She came back with five bogeys and 13 pars in round two.

She had six bogeys and 11 pars in the third round.

The tournament was put on by the Indiana Women’s Golf Association.
