Sara Im wins Georgia Women’s Open

ATLANTA, GA — Amateur Sara Im of Duluth claims the 30th playing of the Georgia Women’s Open Presented by Mizuno with a four-stroke victory over 2012 champion Kendall Wright of Berkeley Lake at Currahee Golf Club in Toccoa.

Im, a rising sophomore on the Vanderbilt golf team fired a two-under par 70 on Saturday to put her in a three way tie going into Sunday’s final round with mini tour professional Wright and amateur Aly Francis of Stockbridge. Wright had a two shot lead over Im through 11 holes, but then proceeded to bogey her next three out of four holes to give Im her first lead going into hole 16. One up going into 18, Im hit a perfect drive down the center and Wright drove it into the penalty area on the right side of the fairway. Wright would go on to three putt and Im drilled a 30 footer for birdie to claim the championship with a five-under, 139, over the two-days. Im became the 2nd winner in four years to claim both the Women’s Georgia Open and the Women’s Georgia Amateur in the same year, where Jenny Bae did it in 2021.

Wright’s one-under par, 143, claimed her low professional honors and the $1,700 first place check. Rounding out the top 5 was mini tour professional Melissa Siviter of Alpharetta at even-par, mini tour professional Hollie Muse of Greensboro at two-over par, and tied at 5th were amateurs Makena Dubois of Canton and Morgan Ellison of Peachtree City at three-over par.

In the Senior Amateur Division, Kristyl Sunderman of McDonough won at five-over par.
