🚨 Lionel Messi forced off injured in Copa América final

Argentina and Colombia meet in the 2024 Copa América final on Sunday, and the World Cup winners suffered a huge blow.

It was a tense first half, led by James Rodríguez’s magic. The Colombians were on the front foot for the first 45 minutes.

Jhon Córdoba and Luis Díaz were particularly lively. One Emi Martínez, however, was not truly tested seeing Argentina stay in the game.

The holders were then handed a huge scare when Lionel Messi collided with Santiago Arias and the captain was seen hobbling across the pitch.

He appeared seriously distraught before ultimately re-entering the pitch for the second 45 minutes, but it didn’t last long.

Messi picked up another issue (this time non-contact), which forced him to leave the pitch around the hour mark in tears. Ice is heavily tapped around his ankle.

Colombia now have a huge advantage.
