Why has Alabama football’s LT Overton been missing from fall camp? Kane Wommack explains.

Alabama football defensive lineman LT Overton has to wait a few extra days to make his Crimson Tide debut this fall.

Overton has notably been missing for the first two days of Alabama’s fall practice, which began on Wednesday, not appearing in any drills with the Alabama defensive line. However, per defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, Overton is expected to be back with the team within the next few days.

“(LT) is not feeling well right now,” Wommack said following Alabama’s second day of fall camp. “I think he will be back in a day or two.”

Overton, a Milton, Georgia native, was the first transfer to commit in Alabama’s 2024 cycle, coming from Texas A&M. During his time in College Station, Overton played in 23 games and recorded 48 total tackles, three for loss, along with one sack.

Heading into the season, Overton is expected to be competing with Jah’Marien Latham for the Bandit position in that of Wommack’s “4-2-5” Swarm defense. Under Wommack’s new scheme, the Bandit is basically a defensive end but on the weak side while the Wolf can be compared more to an outside linebacker.
