Vote for top WR in Jackson area entering 2024 Tennessee high school football season


Who is the Jackson-area’s best wide receiver entering the 2024 Tennessee high school football season? The Jackson Sun sought to find out with its definitive ranking of the 10 best WRs in the area.

Now it’s your turn to vote.

Make your selection of the area’s best WR and be sure to read all of our preview coverage with the TSSAA season beginning next month (including other definitive lists of the best players in the area in 2024).

Fans are able to vote once per hour. The poll closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Here are the nominees.

Gage Byington, Gleason, 5-11, 175 pounds, Sophomore: Byington had 650 yards on 32 catches and 13 touchdowns for the Bulldogs last season.

Jack Cupples, Riverside, 6-2, 170 pounds, Sophomore: Cupples didn’t have a ton of production, but he caught three touchdown passes in nine receptions for the state champion Panthers last season.

Jamin Gualdin, Dyer County, 5-8, 155 pounds, Senior: Gauldin had 702 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season for a solid Dyer County offense.

Caden Harris, Haywood, 6-foot, 160 pounds, Junior: Harris has garnered plenty of Power Five attention for his play on both sides of the ball, especially defensively. As for offense, he didn’t have the eye-boggling stats others have, but he still had 520 yards and six TDs in a run-heavy Tomcat offense.

JaQuan Kinney, Peabody, 6-1, 185, Senior: Kinney caught 14 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown last season to help the Golden Tide advance to the second round in the TSSAA playoffs.

Avery McCormick, Adamsville, 6-2, 205, Senior: McCormick caught 38 passes last season for 482 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He totaled 13 TDs in 2023 and has garnered some attention from Division I colleges as a three-star recruit on 247Sports.

Jay’len Mosley, Jackson Christian, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Senior: The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football winner from last year had staggering numbers with 1,482 receiving yards on 74 receptions and 26 touchdowns – all before a knee injury cut his season short. Mosley is listed as a four-star recruit on 247Sports Composite and has 18 offers, including 11 from Power Five schools.

Colt Norden, McKenzie, 6-2, 190 pounds, Senior, Norden helped the Rebels advance to the Class 1A state title game by hauling in 44 catches for 898 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Mills Terry, USJ, 6-4, 225 pounds, Senior: Terry hauled in 19 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns for the Bruins last season.

Brayden Waller, TCA, 6-2, 170 pounds, Senior: Waller racked up 1,073 passing yards last season for the Lions with 11 touchdowns. He ranked No. 4 in the state with his total yardage and had a 341-yard single-game -performance this season.
