Chastan Brown answered the call Thursday afternoon — on stage, in front of friends, family and coaches in attendance and a large live audience over Instagram.
Asked over the phone if he was ready to become a Knight, the 6-foot-8, 260-pound offensive tackle stood proudly and responded, “You know it.”
Brown, a rising senior at Northside High in Warner Robins, Georgia, chose UCF over Georgia State, Houston, Louisville, N.C. State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. Should he sign his letter of intent in the winter, he would become the highest-ranked offensive line recruit in program history — and ninth all-time, regardless of position, according to 247Sports’ composite scores.

“It plays a major role. That’s a big accomplishment. I don’t know how to explain it,” Brown said. “But the job ain’t done and the grind won’t stop.”
Hudson Standish, 247Sports’ national analyst, described Brown in a February evaluation as “one of the country’s most physically impressive offensive tackles.” In his first year starting as Northside’s left tackle, Brown was named Georgia’s Region 1-AAAAAA Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Additionally, Brown plays basketball for his school, averaging 10.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game this past season. He wants to continue playing both sports for the Knights.
Standish added in his scouting report: “A true lottery ticket left tackle prospect who will need time to develop, but could offer one of the biggest returns on investment in the 2025 recruiting cycle.”
In 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brown is the No. 26 tackle in the country. He fills a huge need in the class, considering UCF’s three current offensive line commits — Cocoa’s Jaquez Joiner, Wiregrass Ranch’s Gavin Blanchard and Roswell (Ga.)’s Andrew Stargel — are largely viewed as interior prospects. Orlando Christian Prep’s Demetrius Campbell, another coveted tackle recruit who attended UCF’s Bounce House Weekend in June, chose Miami instead last month.
Brown becomes the fourth consensus blue-chip recruit in UCF’s 2025 class, joining safety Kendarius Reddick, running back Taevion Swint and wide receiver Waden Charles. In total, the Knights have 19 verbal commits for a class ranked 23rd in the 247Sports composite standings.
The Knights have two long-term defensive line targets set to decide next week. Newberry teammates Jarquez Carter and Mykah Newton will make their respective announcements on July 18.
