The inaugural Sunnehanna National Four Ball event will be played Monday and Tuesday at the Sunnehanna Country Club course.
The 54-hole tournament will welcome back a number of former Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions participants among the 48-team, 96-player field.
John Peterson, of Fort Worth, Texas, is a former three-time All-American at Louisiana State University who won the 2011 NCAA Division I men’s golf championship. He competed in two Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions and will return to the Westmont course.
A reinstated amateur, Peterson finished fourth in the 2012 United States Open at Olympic Club, which earned him invitations to the Masters and U.S. Open.
Local players Matt Bullington, Nick Mezyk, Scott Mezyk, Matt Moot, Brady Moran, Kurtis Straw and Chad Warmblein will also compete in the event.
Initially proposed to the board of the Sunnehanna Country Club in September 2022, the four-ball event will include 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday at the par-70 course. The format is four ball, known as best ball of two.
