Stockport County have signed striker Michael Mellon on a season-long loan from Championship side Burnley.

The 20-year-old, son of Oldham Athletic boss Micky Mellon, spent part of last term on loan at Morecambe, where he scored 15 goals in 27 appearances.

A Scotland youth international, he was then recalled from his stint at Morecambe and spent the remainder of last term on loan with Scottish Premiership side Dundee.

“Michael had a fantastic 2023-24 season in terms of his goal return and has naturally attracted plenty of interest from clubs this summer,” Hatters boss Dave Challinor said.

“For him to choose us as his destination for the coming season is a great coup for us.”
