COLUMBIA — Just two days before South Carolina football begins its 2024 preseason practices, class of 2025 recruit Jaiden Braker announced he has changed his commitment from the Gamecocks to LSU.
On Wednesday afternoon, Braker, a three-star linebacker according to 247Sports, retweeted a post from On3Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter, that said he was flipping his commitment.
This news comes after Braker posted that he received an offer from the Tigers on July 26. Braker had originally committed to the Gamecocks on July 6, and less than a month later, changed his mind. Since announcing that he would be going to South Carolina weeks ago, Braker has been active on X, retweeting content related to the Gamecocks, including a video of coach Shane Beamer at SEC Media Days on July 15.
Braker plays for South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia, where he had 23 solo tackles during his junior year. The 6-foot-3, 212 pound linebacker had interest from many schools including Kentucky, NC State, Utah and Rutgers.
For Beamer, this is the second player in the class to change his commitment to another SEC school. Four-star cornerback Shamari Earls, who committed to South Carolina in April, announced July 7 that he will play for Georgia.
