Ricky Hatton, 46, to come out of retirement in December for first fight in 13 years

Ricky Hatton is coming out of retirement 13 years after his last professional fight for a matchup against Eisa Al Dah on Dec. 2 in Dubai.

Hatton (45-3, 32 KOs), who will turn 47 in October, announced the fight against the 46-year-old Dah (8-3, 4 KOs) on Sunday, which will be a middleweight contest.

Hatton, a former welterweight and light welterweight world champion, last fought a sanctioned bout in 2012, a knockout loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko. He took on Marco Antonio Barrera in a 2022 exhibition.

“I wish I was there but I had a little bad injury on my eye,” said Hatton, a 2024 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, on a livestream promoting the event. “The main thing is the fight will take place, and I can’t wait, I’m really looking forward to it.

“It’s just one of them freakish things, I caught one of my sunglasses in my eyes and I’m very fortunate it’s not done any permanent damage. It’s just scraped the surface, so fingers crossed we’re good to go.”

Hatton reportedly suffered the eye injury during the opening night of Oasis’ reunion tour in Cardiff, Wales, on Friday.

Dah has not been in the ring since being knocked out by Pedro Alejandro Delgado in 2021.
