The first half of Colombia and Uruguay’s Copa América semi-final featured some dramatic scenes in the final five minutes!
The match was a flurry of first-half action as both teams had few opportunities to open the scoring.
It seemed like Marcelo Bielsa’s men would strike first as a surging Darwin Núñez had three long-range efforts blast inches wide. The Liverpool star has attempted the most shots at the tournament (20).
However, James Rodríguez then had his say. Colombia’s captain delivered an inch-perfect corner kick and Jefferson Lerma headed home. It’s his sixth assist at the tournament in five games, equalling the all-time record.
Minutes after the goal, Colombia’s celebrations were ultimately cut short as they went down to 10 men.
Daniel Muñoz, who was already carrying a yellow, appeared to elbow Manuel Ugarte, and the referee sent him off for the rash decision.
It means Uruguay have a full 45 minutes with a huge advantage. Can they make use of it to reach the final?
