Phil Mickelson, set to turn 55 on June 16, is nearing the end of his legendary golf career, competing in a handful of PGA Tour events this year.

While Mickelson has spent most of his 2025 season in the LIV Golf scene, he’s participated in the PGA Championship and The Masters.

Mickelson is now preparing for the U.S. Open at the Oakmont Country Club, set to take place from June 12 to June 15.

Before the U.S. Open, Mickelson admitted that this may be the end of the road for his participation in the tournament.

“I haven’t thought about it too much,” Mickelson said, per Mark Schlabach at ESPN. “There’s a high likelihood that it will be, but I haven’t really thought about it too much.”

Phil Mickelson also commented on the end of his career in the LIV Golf League, explaining that he doesn’t want to hold anyone back and asking a “partner” of the team, he will weigh his options.

“I want this team to succeed,” Mickelson added. “I don’t want to hold it back. If I’m not an asset, if I’m not helping, if I’m holding it back, then it’s time for me to move on and get somebody else in here who is going to really help the team win and succeed. These guys deserve to experience that, and I want them to. As a partner in this team, I want that, as well.”

Mickelson joined the LIV Golf League in 2022. So far this season, Mickelson has competed in seven LIV Golf events and two PGA Tour majors.

While he hinted that the U.S. Open may be his final call in the 2025 season, he’ll be ready to go to compete for the purse on June 12.
