Notts County have signed free-agent defender Robbie Cundy on a one-year deal.
The 27-year-old was released by Barnsley after not making a single appearance for the League One club last season because of injury problems.
He is Notts’ eighth signing of the summer following Matty Platt, Jacob Bedeau, Alex Bass, Nick Tsaroulla, Rod McDonald, Curtis Edwards and Kellan Gordon.
“Robbie’s known as a big, aggressive centre-half – but if you look at his game, he’s technically very good and someone who nearly always picks the right pass,” said head coach Stuart Maynard.
“He’s been very unfortunate with injury, which has held him back and is probably the only reason we’re able to sign him at this level.
“But he’s in very good condition and, after really impressing us in the games against Wycombe and Wealdstone, as well as on camp in the Netherlands, we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to build his minutes in pre-season.”
Notts start the new League Two season with a trip to Tranmere Rovers on 10 August.
