New Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur has admitted he does not know whether he will stay with the Super League club beyond this season.
Australian Arthur, 50, was unveiled as Rohan Smith’s replacement on a short-term contract last week.
Leeds are seventh in the Super League table, chasing a play-off spot – and Arthur says he is not looking past the current campaign.
“I don’t want to be drawn into whether I am staying or not, because I don’t know,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I’m going to try my best. I’ve left my family at home, that shows I am committed to helping the club right now and helping the club progress this year, next year and beyond with or without me.”
Arthur was coy on recruitment but did say players have expressed an interest in joining Leeds.
“I’ve had some players reach out to me already,” he added.
“Whether I’m here next year or not, I want to help and make sure the club has as good a roster as it can within the salary cap.
“There is definitely a lot of interest from players who want to play for Leeds. Why wouldn’t you? It is a great city and the club has got everything going for it.”
