Meet Ohio State football’s Brandon Inniss: What to know about the WR ahead of 2024 season

Brandon Inniss is heading into his second season as a part of Ohio State’s wide receiver room.

The former five-star will make his 2024 debut at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 when Ohio State takes on Akron. He is joined in OSU’s wide receiver room by players such as Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate and freshman five-star Jeremiah Smith, among others.

Here’s what to know about Inniss heading into the 2024 season:

Brandon Inniss was a five-star 2023 wide receiver

Inniss is one example of many five-star wide receivers who chose to play at Ohio State.

Inniss, a five-star wide receiver out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was the No. 5 wide receiver and the No. 35 overall player in the 2023 class. Inniss was the only five-star wide receiver to choose Ohio State in 2023 and was joined in the class by Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers and Carnell Tate.

Between 2019 and 2024, Ohio State has landed seven five-star wide receivers, including Smith and Mylan Graham in the 2024 recruiting class.

Brandon Inniss originally committed to Oklahoma

But Ohio State was not Inniss’ first choice.

While Inniss had the Buckeyes in his top 10 along with Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Southern California and Mississippi, he chose to commit to the Sooners in August 2021.

He ended his commitment to Oklahoma just over three months later, and committed to Ohio State in June 2022.

According to Pro Football Focus, Inniss played 98 snaps as a true freshman, including 59 snaps on kickoff and punt return. On his 39 snaps as a wide receiver, Inniss had one catch. But it was a big one.

In Ohio State’s 41-7 win against Purdue Oct. 14, Inniss caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Devin Brown with 7:35 left in the fourth quarter for the Buckeyes’ final touchdown of the day.

Inniss is one of six receivers to have a touchdown reception for Ohio State in 2023 along with Marvin Harrison Jr., Cade Stover, Egbuka, Tate and Gee Scott Jr.

Inniss spent the majority of spring camp sidelined with a hairline fracture in his right foot.

At Ohio State’s spring game, Inniss wore a walking book and rode a medical scooter on the sideline.

Inniss said he returned to full strength this summer and has been participating in the program’s strength and conditioning workouts.
