Lubbock high school football: Top 5 linebackers in the area entering 2024


These defenders can do a little of everything. Here’s a look at the top linebackers in Lubbock and the South Plains, listed in alphabetical order.

Rowin Donaldson, Sr., Seminole

A defensive back turned linebacker, Donaldson utilized his athleticism to the tune of 90 tackles, including 20 for a loss, four interceptions, a forced fumble and two blocked kicks.

Lucas Jarnagin, Sr., Idalou

Jarnagin totaled 60 tackles, including 12 for a loss, eight sacks and 15 quarterback hurries. He also had an interception and a forced fumble.

Cole Stanzione, Sr., Lubbock-Cooper

The Pirates’ leading tackler finished with 108, including 51 solo and 6½ for a loss. He also notched 3½ sacks and three quarterback hurries.

Ryder Starkey, Jr., New Home

Starkey earned district defensive MVP in 2023.

Zakavian Washington, Sr., Coronado

Washington wreaked havoc with 109 tackles, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in 2023.
