With the high school golf season teeing off in Kentucky this week, the South Oldham and St. Xavier boys teams once again look to be contenders for the state championship.

South Oldham won its first regional title last year and finished second at the state championships behind Madison Central. The Dragons return three of their top five golfers from that squad in seniors Griffin Barke and Max Terrell and junior Colton Woosley.

St. Xavier finished third at the state championships and returns four of its top five players from last season: junior Will Stuart and sophomores Dylan Logsdon, Luc Kelty and Brody Alexander. The Tigers also added freshman Grayson Hayden, who tied for 20th place at state last season as an eighth grader at Kentucky Country Day.

Here’s a look at 10 of the top boys golfers from the Louisville area for the 2024 season. Selections were made based on finishes in last year’s regional and state tournaments and in the All-State points standings and on suggestions from area coaches.

Players are listed alphabetically.

Brody Alexander

School: St. Xavier

Year: Sophomore

What to know: Tied for 20th place in last year’s state championships. Opened the 2024 season with a co-second-place finish in Monday’s Spartan Clash at Park Mammoth Golf Club.

Griffin Barke

School: South Oldham

Year: Senior

What to know: Last year’s Region Six champion finished sixth at the state championships and earned first-team All-State honors. Committed to North Carolina Wilmington.

Luke Bryant

School: Eastern

Year: Junior

What to know: Tied for 12th place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and advanced to the first round of the state championships.

Brady Faulkner

School: Christian Academy

Year: Eighth grade

What to know: Tied for 12th place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and tied for 39th place at the state championships.

Will Hudson

School: Trinity

Year: Senior

What to know: Tied for sixth place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and tied for 16th place at the state championships. Committed to the University of Cincinnati.

Xavier Huestis

School: Kentucky Country Day

Year: Senior

What to know: Emerged during the summer with a second-place finish in the Junior Falls City and a victory in the Louisville Junior Championship. Opened the 2024 high school season with a co-second-place finish in Monday’s Spartan Clash at Park Mammoth Golf Club.

Will Judd

School: Christian Academy

Year: Junior

What to know: Tied for fourth place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and advanced to the first round of the state championships.

Luc Kelty

School: St. Xavier

Year: Sophomore

What to know: Tied for 10th place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and tied for 51st place at the state championships. Won the prestigious Junior Falls Cities title in June at Long Run Golf Course.

Dylan Logsdon

School: St. Xavier

Year: Sophomore

What to know: Tied for second place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and tied for 39th place at the state championships.

Colton Woosley

School: South Oldham

Year: Junior

What to know: Tied for 12th place in last year’s Region Six Tournament and tied for 11th place at the state championships.
