Kansas State football keeps it in the family with commitment from Louisburg linebacker

Austin Moore may be leaving Kansas State football at the end of the 2024 season, but the family name lives on.

Louisburg High School linebacker Ashton Moore, Austin’s younger brother, announced his commitment to the Wildcats on social media Wednesday, becoming K-State’s 15th pledge for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to Kansas State University,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates and everyone who has supported me along the way, especially the Louisburg community. Go Cats!”

K-State was the first Power Four school to offer the younger Moore after a camp in Manhattan last month. He also held offers from Illinois State and Pennsylvania, plus took visits to Kansas and South Dakota State.

Austin Moore, a team captain and second-team Big 12 all-conference last year, originally walked on at K-State. He will be a third-year starter this year as a super-senior.

Ashton Moore, who is not yet rated by either 247Sports or On3, is coming off an outstanding junior season as a two-way starter at Louisburg. On offense, he rushed for 1,110 yards and 15 touchdowns, plus caught 25 passes for 292 yards and three scores, while he recorded 125 tackles, including eight for loss with two sacks and four forced fumbles on defense.

K-State has made building depth at linebacker a priority, especially after the Wildcats were decimated by injuries at that position last year. Moore is the third linebacker already in the 2025 class, joining Weston Polk from Coppell, Texas, and Sawyer Schilke from Kearney, Nebraska.

Moore’s pledge continues the summer recruiting momentum for K-State, which secured a commitment from Arkansas running back Monterrio Elston on Saturday, Kansas City defensive back RJ Collins last Thursday and five-star Goodland tight end Linkon Cure on July 1.
