Kaitlyn Schroeder back in Jacksonville after transferring from Alabama to North Florida

Kaitlyn Schroeder is coming home.

Florida’s top female junior golfer and the American Junior Golf Association Player of the Year in 2022, Schroeder has completed the formalities of transferring from Alabama to the University of North Florida, where he father Scott was elevated from men’s golf coach to director of golf over the men’s and women’s teams last week.

Schroeder will be a redshirt sophomore for the 2024-25 season. She was redshirted as a freshman and played in three fall events in 2023, with a stroke average of 74.00.

“It’s going to be fun coaching her again,” said Scott Schroeder. “It will be a blast. She enjoyed being at Alabama but she wants to play on the LPGA and her success as a junior golfer occurred in Jacksonville, with the team that was built around her. She thinks this is the place for her to be.”

In addition to her father, Schroeder is coached by Dan Carraher at South Hampton and by Alex Bennett, the Director of Athletic Performance at the TPC Sawgrass Performance Center.

Schroeder also comes to UNF at a time when Courtney Cobb takes over as the women’s associate head coach.

In addition to earning the AJGA’s top honor, Schroeder is a two-time Florida Junior champion and in 2021 was the youngest player to win the First Coast Women’s Amateur, at 15.

She was a three-time AJGA All-American, played in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur won the Junior PGA Championship in 2022, reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Girls in 2021 and played on the 2021 Junior Solheim Cup team.

Schroeder said playing for her father was a factor in her transfer.

“With my dad now becoming Director of Golf and being over both programs, it was such an amazing opportunity to now get to play college golf for him,” she said in a statement to the UNF athletics website. “I couldn’t be more excited for the next three years.”
