Jul. 24—The Madison Central girls golf team opened the 2024 season with a strong performance against a tough field on Wednesday in Lexington.
The Lady Indians shot a +24, 312 and took second place at the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association Invitational. Sacred Heart (+20, 308) claimed the championship, while Lexington Christian Academy (+39) was third and Lexington Catholic (+45) was fourth.
Madison Central’s B team placed seventh with a total score of +72, 360.
Central junior Mollie Neeley took third place on the individual leaderboard with a -1, 71. She finished with five birdies (No. 4, 6, 13, 14 and 17).
Emma Lindemeon of Sacred Heart (-4, 68) took the title, while Morgan Kennedy of Boyd County (-2, 70) was second.
Madison Central’s MacKenzie Federspiel tied for sixth after shooting a +5, 77. Haley Federspiel tied for 13th with a +8, 80.
Rosie Patterson — playing on the B team — shot a +11, 83, and placed 23rd.
Aubrey Barrow finished at +12, 84, and was 24th. Amelia Harrel tied for 27th after firing a +14, 86. Kelsee Bacon (+16, 88) tied for 31st. Elsa Fritz (+21, 93) tied for 45th. Elle Brumley (+23, 95) tied for 52nd. Elin Fritz (+24, 96) was 56th. Faith Meadows shot a +29, 101 (63rd) and Madi Jackson (+31, 103) tied for 66th.
The Lady Indians are set to return to action Thursday at the Shelby County Invitational.
