Georgia football’s home schedule will be chock full of major matchups.
In 2025.
This season? Not so much. At least on paper.
We did a survey a few weeks back on most anticipated games of the season. The top four vote getters were all games away from Athens in this order: At Texas, At Alabama, vs. Clemson in Atlanta and vs. Florida in Jacksonville. That doesn’t even include a game at Ole Miss.
“Initially I was wondering how I got that draw, but we’re not one to complain,” coach Kirby Smart said. “We’re one to be excited. I think when you step into the shoes of a University of Georgia football player, you accept that challenge is going to be there. I mean, we kind of embrace that and we love it.”
Fans will love the home schedule in 2025 when all of those teams visit Athens.
So let’s drill down more on the home slate for 2024.
What Georgia football home game are you most looking forward to?
We will skip Tennessee Tech and UMass because well, we know.
So the contenders are:
The Deep South Oldest rivalry when Auburn comes to town.
That Friday Thanksgiving weekend game against Georgia Tech?
Mississippi State and first-year coach Jeff Lebby.
And Tennessee which was No. 1 in the CFB rankings the last time it visited Georgia before the Bulldogs changed that with the win. The Vols are picked to finish seventh in the now 16-team SEC.
We are less than five weeks away from the start of the season against Clemson at Mercedes-Benz and less than six weeks from the home opener against Tennessee Tech.
