Sean Dyche says he hopes the Premier League will suit loan signing Jesper Lindstrom.
The attacking midfielder moved to Napoli at the start of last season but struggled to make an impact and hopes he can show the form he delivered at Eintracht Frankfurt when he gets his chance at Goodison Park.
Speaking after a friendly defeat at Salford City on Saturday, Dyche was asked what he hopes his new recruit – who did not feature – will bring.
“From what I know about him, his directness,” said Dyche.
“He had a tough spell at Napoli by his own opinion. The way he’s gone about it though to come here, wanting to come here, has been really pleasing. He’s got a real thirst for it. He’s got directness, pace and can work on the counter.
“The Italian style maybe can be quite slow, methodical and defensive. I’m not sure that’s as big a part of his game and the Premier League, as we know, there’s a lot more variance.
“First we need to get him bedded in and to come and enjoy what it is to be a part of us.”
Dyche made a host of changes during Saturday’s friendly defeat to League Two Salford and later admitted he was cautious with a number of players carrying minor injuries.
“That was the main objective, to get the main group of recognised first team players fitter and sharper,” he said.
“Nothing to do with tactics at this stage; it’s filling slots and getting as many minutes as we can. But you know the list of injuries we’ve had. Not major, but that fine line between getting enough minutes after a hard week and then people getting injured or re-injured. That’s why we took a few out of the equation. They’re not seriously injured but we have to be careful as we have a thin squad.”
