On several occasions in the past, [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] has offered public support for Donald Trump, but all it took was one video of the former U.S. president praising [autotag]Khabib Nurmagomedov[/autotag] to undo it all.
On Monday, a clip from a Trump interview with internet personality Adin Ross made the rounds on social media. In it, Ross asks Trump who are some of his favorite UFC fighters, and Trump immediately names Nurmagomedov, who retired undefeated (29-0) with a submission win over McGregor at UFC 229 in October 2018.
That was enough for McGregor to go off on Trump.
After catching wind of Trump praising his bitter rival, McGregor went on X to publicly humiliate the GOP presidential nominee. McGregor called it a “campaign ending decision” to name Nurmagomedov – not an American fighter – as his favorite.
Campaign ending decision. A smelly fat mountain monkey from the inbred mountains of Dagestan is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? Wow. Abysmal. https://t.co/FB96gtkuEs

I was actually wrong. Couple hundred million he is worth. Not multi B. I would have thought USA ONLY would be the mentality here and what I would want to see out of my president, personally. With Dana White as his longtime good friend, Trump has plenty of support from UFC fighters, one of them being [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag], who’s in line to fight McGregor upon his return to the cage following a more than three-year absence.
Chandler didn’t appreciate McGregor’s words and rushed to Trump’s defense on X, sparking a back-and-fort between the two of them.
Stop it…. @TheNotoriousMMA . If you had half the balls that DT had you would have shown up June 29th. Instead you’re normal walking, beer chuggin’ Austin 3:16 style at a local fight show/motorcycle rally in South Dakota, a RED, 100% #maga state by the way. 🇺🇸

Bro he doesn’t even know who the fuck you are lol. He probably thinks you are a little broke begging arsewipe
— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) August 6, 2024
He does @TheNotoriousMMA . But that is neither here nor there. Here’s the deal – I beat your ass in December…I bet my entire career on it. End the year back flipping over your lifeless body on the canvas.

My man, it was an abysmal choice for fighter. Be real with yourself, please. Horrific! And yes I look forward to December! It was going to be big bear originally for my camp but now it will be Colorado Springs instead! Better facilities. Where the US Olympic athletes train! I…

In the wake of the Trump assassination attempt last month, McGregor praised Trump for “running for the love of his country.” Just a few weeks later, that sentiment appears to be gone – and Khabib is to blame.
