ESPN’s comprehensive ACC preview Monday contained several tidbits on Clemson heading into the 2024 college football season.

Among them, four-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco was named the top impact freshman. The Midlothian, Texas, native committed to Clemson a year ago after visits to LSU, USC, Oklahoma and TCU.

Joining Wesco on ESPN’s list was Miami tight end Elija Lofton and Pitt defensive lineman Sincere Edwards.

ESPN’s Bill Connelly wrote of Wesco:

“The Tigers have been missing a game breaker at receiver over the past several seasons, but there is optimism that will change this year, thanks in part to incoming freshman Wesco. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound freshman, an ESPN 300 prospect, enrolled early in spring as one of the top receivers in the country. So far, he has not disappointed. When asked during ACC Kickoff for a player who will be a difference-maker this year, quarterback Cade Klubnik did not hesitate to say Wesco. When asked to elaborate, he said, ‘You’ll see.'”

Not surprisingly, Clemson and Florida State were named the two teams most likely to win the ACC in ESPN’s preview. The Tigers and Seminoles will meet Oct. 5 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

Either Clemson or Florida State have won the ACC every year since 2011 with the exception of 2021 when Pitt defeated Wake Forest in the conference championship game.

Florida State was ranked No. 10 in the Preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, released Monday. Clemson was ranked No. 14.
