Golf’s fourth and final major of the year has arrived with the 152nd edition of the British Open getting underway Thursday from Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland.
The last major came down to the wire, with LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau defeating Ireland‘s Rory Mcllroy by one stroke in the U.S. Open to claim his second major championship last month at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.
Last year, American Brian Hartman won his first career major en route to a dominant, six-stroke victory at the British Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in England.
With the first round teeing off as early as 1:35 a.m. ET on Thursday, here’s all you need to know about the 2024 British Open:

Odds to win the 2024 British Open
To no surprise, World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler is the odds-on-favorite to win his first Claret Jug and the third major of his career this weekend in Scotland.
What is noteworthy is how big of a favorite the Ridgewood, New Jersey, native is.
With odds as short as +450 (Bet $100 to win $450) on multiple sportsbooks, it makes Scheffler the largest favorite in 15 years since Tiger Woods in 2009.
Harman, last year’s winner, opens with 60/1 odds (Bet $100 to win $6,000) to repeat as champion and would become the first golfer since Padraig Harrington in 2007 and 2008 to win the British Open in consecutive years.
Here are the top-10 odds-on-favorites to win this golf’s last major in 2024:
Scottie Scheffler: +450
Rory Mcllroy: +750 (Bet $100 to win $750)
Xander Schauffele: 11/1 (Bet $100 to win $1,100)
Ludvig Aberg, Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau: 14/1 (Bet $100 to win $1,400)
Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rahm: 22/1 (Bet $100 to win $2,200)
Tyrell Hatton: 25/1 (Bet $100 to win $2,500)
Viktor Hovland: 30/1 (Bet $100 to win $3,000)
