Marseille have confirmed the season-long loan signing of Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
The move will become permanent in a year’s time for a reported €20m (£16.8m) fee, with an obligation to do so included.
The Danish international, who starred for his country at EURO 2024, has signed an X-year contract at the Stade Veledrome, and becomes new manager Roberto De Zerbi’s latest big-name purchase.
Højbjerg leaves Spurs after four seasons, in which time he made 184 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals, one of which came at his new home ground in October 2022 when he netted an injury-time winner in a Champions League group game.
However, his role in the side diminished under Ange Postecoglou last season, and with the signings of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, he has been allowed to leave.
The 28-year-old could be soon joined in the south of France by another player from North London, Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.
The striker has been linked with a move to the Ligue 1 club as De Zerbi continues to shop in the Premier League.
