The USWNT were held in a goalless draw with Costa Rica in their final match before heading off for the Olympics. Here is what went down at Audi Field.
It was one-way traffic for the United States from the very start, but Emma Hayes’ side struggled with their final product.
Some last-ditch, and frankly heroic Costa Rican defending kept the score level until beyond the hour mark as the rampant attacking force of Sophia Smith, Lindsey Horan, Trinity Rodman, and Mallory Swanson created bags of chances.

Frustration inside Audi Field grew palpable deep into the second-half as the Stars and Stripes struggled to find the final ball in the box, but it was not without trying.
The United States finished the game with a precession of corners but just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Next up for Emma Hayes and the U.S. is the Olympics in Paris. They will kick off their campaign in a Group B showdown with Zambia.
