Burnley have announced the signing of full-back Lucas Pires from Santos on a four-year deal.
It’s rumoured that the deal for the 23-year-old is worth €2.5 million with an additional sell-on fee attached.
Pires, who is the Clarets’ third signing of the summer, spent last season on loan in La Liga with Cádiz.
“It’s incredible for me to be here and playing in England,” the Corinthians youth product told the club’s website. “English football has been a dream for me ever since I was a child, it’s a dream come true.
“I initially heard about the interest towards the end of last season. I was really happy to hear about it and I was quite emotional to be honest about coming here and playing for this club in England.
“Myself, all my family and everyone back home are extremely excited for me to come and play for Burnley Football Club and I can’t wait now.”
The Brazilian made over 20 appearances for Cádiz, scoring his first professional goal in October 2023 during a 3-2 defeat against Atlético Madrid.
