Ten Rouwelaar joins Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff having previously worked under Vincent Kompany at both Burnley and Anderlecht.
The Dutchman has also coached for the Netherlands’ U20 national team and at Eredivisie club NAC Breda, where he spent nine years of his playing career as a goalkeeper.
“Jelle is experienced with English football and he has some great innovations in goalkeeping, a new approach and it’s very interesting,” United manager Ten Hag told the club’s official website.
“I’m convinced he will really help our game, as a team, but especially the keepers, as a squad, as a team, their position in the team and how they’re aligned with the rest of the team and playing as a collective.”
Ten Rouwelaar joins Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy as part of the club’s new look backroom team.
