Andreas Gustafsson has a new opponent and 10 less pounds he’ll have to lose.
With Jeremiah Wells out of UFC on ESPN 68, Gustafsson (11-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC will now face short-notice replacement Trevin Giles (16-7 MMA, 7-7 UFC) in an 180-pound catchweight May 31 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Both fighters confirmed the booking on social media after it appeared on the UFC‘s official website.
Gustafsson, 34, makes his debut after an impressive showing on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024, during which he sliced and diced Canada’s Pat Pytlik en route to a second-round TKO stoppage. The victory extended his winning streak to three.
Giles, 32, might have his back up against the wall. He enters the bout off three-straight losses. While his UFC record is even, history has aged his losses well. Three of his defeats came against future top contenders Carlos Prates and Michael Morales, as well as future middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis. He also holds a win over top middleweight contender Roman Dolidze.
