The Florida high school football season is here and before it starts in Palm Beach County, you need to know the names of the athletes who will be quarterbacking their teams to greatness.
From new faces like Jupiter Christian’s Jimmy Moses trying their hand in the SSAA state series to near-household names like Atlantic’s Lincoln Graf seeking hardware in the FHSAA series, there are quite a few quarterbacks who need to be on your radar this fall.

Best Florida high school football QBs in Palm Beach County for 2024
Caleb Butler
High school: Dr. Joaquin Garcia
Vitals: 6-1, 190 pounds, junior
College offers: Western Kentucky
The Bulldogs will have a new look on offense for their second season as a program. Bringing along an arm that accounted for over 2,400 all-purpose yards and 30 passing touchdowns is Butler, who, as a sophomore, led Palm Beach Central on a 10-3 run to the 4M region championship against a gritty Monarch.
Lincoln Graf
High School: Atlantic
Vitals: 6-1, 185 pounds, senior
College offers: Unoffered
Graf is no stranger to anyone in the stands throughout Palm Beach County. He’s been Atlantic’s starting quarterback since his first year on varsity as a freshman back in 2021, and he’s gone on to post over 5,700 yards in the air entering the 2024 season. Now, the senior leader is prepared for a fourth and final playoff run with the hope of bringing the ‘ship back to Delray Beach.
Jayden Vega
High school: Benjamin
Vitals: 6-1, 210 pounds, senior
College commitment: Brown
Opting to play football and lacrosse at Brown on July 23, getting his college decision out of the way freed up time and focus for Vega to devote to taking the Bucs to states for the first time in football before his goals transition to defending the school’s 1A lacrosse state title in the spring. Last fall, the shifty scrambler accounted for 1,574 passing yards and 19 touchdowns opposite then-No. 1 ATH in the nation Amaree Williams, and he’ll be grateful to have South Carolina tight end commit Preston Douglas downfield in 2024.
Chance Routson
High school: Palm Beach Central
Vitals: 6-3, 190 pounds, junior
College offers: Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Massachusetts
As a sophomore, Routson did the unthinkable for the Bobcats: from the program’s first district championship since 2001 to cutting Jupiter’s historic run short for Boca’s first regional semifinal appearance since 2015. Then again, it’s hard to think that there’s a world in which Routson’s accuracy and 25 touchdowns on 2,760 yards wouldn’t get it done. Palm Beach Central will find out if the young stud can continue his feats by taking the Broncos back to state this fall.
Jyron Hughley
High school: Cardinal Newman
Vitals: 6-2, 185, junior
College offers: Washington State, Western Michigan, West Virginia, USF, UCF, Tulane, Temple, Syracuse, Rhode Island, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Minnesota, Miami, Marshall, Indiana, Georgia Southern, Florida State, Florida Atlantic, Bowling Green, Boston College
Why is Hughley the most sought-after quarterback on the list? Pure speed. Before he made his way to Newman last fall, this Muck-stepper’s wheels were turning recruiters’ heads back when he was a freshman at Glades Day. “Fast” would be an understatement when it comes to describing this incoming Newman offense between Hughley, a four-star ATH taking the reins from outgoing quarterback Luke Warnock, and three-star Louisville running back commit Jaylin Brown readying for his senior season.
Mason Mallory
High school: West Boca Raton
Vitals: 6-1, 190 pounds, junior
College offers: Akron, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Marshall, Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, USF
Entering a new year, we’re still talking about the “hail Mallory” this guy delivered to upset Atlantic in the final seconds of the first round of 3M playoffs last fall, clinching the program’s first-ever playoff dub. If West Boca’s schedule is any indication, Mallory will be creating even more buzz in 2024. The Bulls went 9-3 thanks to 25 touchdowns and 1,796 yards on 104 completions from their QB1.
Jimmy Moses
High school: Jupiter Christian
Vitals: 5-10, 160 pounds, freshman
College offers: Unoffered
