LSU added another piece to its 2025 recruiting class on Saturday with the commitment of Jhase Thomas, an in-state four-star safety from Destrehan.
Thomas ranks as the No. 570 player nationally and a three-star prospect according to On3’s industry rankings, but its own rankings are much higher on him, ranking him No. 270 and giving him four stars.
LSU was late getting in the mix for Thomas, who earned a scholarship on June 13 with a strong showing at LSU’s Elite Camp. Now, he gets the chance to play for his dream school, as he described it to On3’s Chad Simmons.
“Being a Louisiana kid, your dream is to get that LSU offer,” Thomas said. “It’s a dream that you grow up with, so being able to have the opportunity to go to that school is a dream come true. It’s always been a dream of mine that I’ve wanted to make happen.”
Thomas isn’t the only Destrehan prospect committing on Saturday. His teammate, three-star receiver Phillip Wright III, is set to make a decision as well with LSU among his finalists, though Michigan is seen as the clear favorite in that recruitment.
While Thomas’ addition didn’t change the national ranking for LSU’s class, which remains No. 5 per On3, it was a nice pickup that will help as the staff tries to close out a top-five finish in the cycle.
