Air Noland is set to begin his Ohio State football career this fall.
Noland, a four-star quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, is one of five scholarship quarterbacks on the roster along with Will Howard, Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz and Julian Sayin.
Noland and the Buckeyes will take the field for the first time against Akron at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 on CBS.
Here’s what to know about Noland heading into the 2024 season:
Air Noland is one of two quarterbacks in Ohio State 2024 recruiting class
Noland is one of two 2024 quarterbacks on Ohio State’s roster.
Noland, the No. 56 player and the No. 4 quarterback in the class, committed to Ohio State in April 2023 over finalists Miami, Texas A&M, Clemson, Oregon, Alabama and Arkansas.
Ohio State originally had a commitment from five-star Dylan Raiola, who ended his commitment before committing to Georgia and, eventually, Nebraska.
After Noland signed his letter of intent in December to join the Buckeyes, Ohio State added Sayin, a 2024 five-star and the No. 1 quarterback in the class, through the transfer portal from Alabama.
“We’re excited to have him a part of the brotherhood,” Noland told The Dispatch in January. “He will definitely make the QB room better than what it is now.”
Air Noland is left-handed
When it comes to left-handed quarterbacks, Noland is one of a rare few in Ohio State history.
Noland is the first left-handed quarterback to sign with Ohio State since Torrance Gibson in 2015. Gibson was a four-star quarterback out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was listed as the No. 82 player in the country. He moved to wide receiver during his freshman season at Ohio State.
The most recent left-handed quarterback to start for Ohio State was Steve Bellisari in 2001. In his four seasons with the Buckeyes, Bellisari had 5,401 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
Air Noland is a Georgia native
Noland was one of two Georgia natives that made Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class.
Noland, the No. 8 prospect in the state out of Fairburn, Georgia, joined five-star defensive lineman Eddrick Houston in the Buckeyes’ 2024 class.
Heading into the 2024 season, Noland is one of nine Georgia natives on Ohio State’s roster along with Houston, safety Caleb Downs, cornerback Jordan Hancock, wide receiver Kojo Antwi, tight end Jelani Thurman, offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin, tight end Bennett Christian and defensive lineman Kayden McDonald.
In four years at Langston Hughes High School, Noland had 10,164 passing yards, 126 touchdowns and 25 interceptions, per 247Sports.
