Real Madrid continued their preseason preparation with a victory over a Chelsea side that are yet to find their footing just a couple of weeks before the new season.
Scorers: Vázquez 19, DÃaz 27′ ; Madueke 39′
With relatively strong sides from both managers we got a bit of a glimpse at how they may set up in the coming weeks as the new campaign gets underway, though Chelsea fans will be hoping for a bit more solidity in defence than what was on display in the first-half.
After narrowly avoiding concession on a number of occasions, the shambolic Chelsea rearguard finally slipped inside 20 minutes, failing to clear their lines repeatedly inthe minutes before Lucas Vázquez finally opened the scoring.
While another line-breaking pass saw Brahim DÃaz slip in behind before the rounding the keeper and doubling Los Blancos’ lead less than 10 minutes later, Chelsea cut the lead through Noni Madueke to stop the bleed before the half-time break.
With a handful of substitutions made after the restart, the game appeared to slow down as the two sides continue to find their footing and eventually fizzled out on a hot night in North Carolina.
Next up for Chelsea is their final friendly of the summer, as the Blues take on fellow Premier League outfit Wolves before turning attention to the Premier League campaign.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are all done with their U.S. tour and will look ahead to the UEFA Super Cup with Atalanta.
