While Liverpool dominated the ball in the opening half-hour, they did little to threaten former teammate Adrián in the Betis goal until Dominik Szoboszlai collected a slick Mo Salah pass before slotting home his shot into the bottom corner.
The ball appeared to be stuck in midfield throughout most of the second-half, as the tempo dropped while the two managers made a host of changes.
The two teams continue their preparation for the new season in the coming days as Liverpool take on Premier League rivals Arsenal, while Betis face off with Manchester United.
