Chelsea youngster Alfie Gilchrist has joined Sheffield United on loan for the 2024/25 campaign, the Steel City side have confirmed.
The 20-year-old, who as been at Chelsea since the age of 11, Gilchrist made his debut for the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino in the 2023/24 campaign, before penning a new contract with the London side in April.
Now, he has joined the relegated Blades on a season-long loan, replacing Jadon Bogle at Bramall Lane after he joined Leeds United.
“This is a new challenge. I am taking myself out of my comfort zone”, he explained upon signing. “I’ve been there (at Chelsea) a while now, so I am ready to kick on.
“I came here last season for an away day, and seeing the fans and how they get behind the team, how much they love it, I was impressed.”
Gilchrist could make his debut in the first game of the new Championship season this Friday, when Sheffield United take on Preston North End.
