FC Noah of Armenia pulled off the biggest result in their club’s history on Tuesday night – with the help of one of the most memorable goals they will ever score.
They are competing in European competition for just the third time ever this season and finally won a tie when they defeated Shkëndija in the first round of Conference League qualifying before thrashing Silema Wanderers 7-0 in round two.
Their reward for that was a meeting with 13-time Greek champions AEK Athens and few would have given them much hope of progression but a stunning upset is on the cards after they shocked the favourites 3-1 at home on Tuesday.
And the highlight of that fixture was undoubtedly their go-ahead goal – which came via a hopeful punt forward from veteran goalkeeper Ognjen Čančarević that caught opposite number Thomas Strakosha out badly.
